Uli Stielike is a German coach who has already been managed: Ivory Coast, Switzerland and the youth division of Germany. During his playing career he made a name for himself during his time performing for Real Madrid as a defender. During his time as a player of the Spanish club, Stielike was elected as the best foreign player in La Liga on 4 different occasions.
He was even hailed and considered to be as the successor of Franz Beckenbauer due to his impressive string of performances of his playing career.
The Korea Football Association (KFA) released a statement which confirmed the appointment of Uli Stielike as the new coach of the Korean side.
“We appointed Uli Stielike, 59, from Germany as the new coach of the national football team. The contract period lasts through the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.”
Stielke will be making his debut as the new manager of South Korea in October when his new squad will be playing against Paraguay on October 10 in a friendly match. This game will serve as a warm up for the upcoming Asian Cup that South Korea has to play on November 14 and 18 against Jordan and Iran respectively.
