Even though there have been several for managers in charge of South Korea over the last decade, the appointment ofStielike was always seen as a gamble. However, he has achieved reasonable success in the last 12 months andStielike is likely to go into the World Cup 2018 qualification with a lot of confidence. Even though there have been several for managers in charge of South Korea over the last decade, the appointment ofStielike was always seen as a gamble. However, he has achieved reasonable success in the last 12 months andStielike is likely to go into the World Cup 2018 qualification with a lot of confidence. The biggest achievement for Korea during this period will be to have reached the final of the Asian cup.

Furthermore, they have achieved victories in all of their World Cup qualification games so far. The six matches have ended up in overwhelming favour of South Korea. The team scored a whopping 23 goals but conceded none in return during this period. The biggest test of the team, though, will come when the latter stages of the competition arrive.Stielike has a contract with the South Korean FA until the end of the 2018 World Cup. He has not speculated about the possibility of extending the contract straightaway following the good period. South Korea have failed to deliver in the last few major tournaments and the World Cup 2018 is a big target.

“If I had to sum up the year in one word, it’d be satisfaction. Looking back on the year, I think we met our expectations. And I am also grateful for the players’ efforts. I tip my hat to them for everything they did this year. Our fans’ expectations will continue to rise and we will come under increasing pressure not to lose. But no matter who the opponents will be, we must not change our philosophy,” saidStielike.
